The Engineer

David Carratalá is a physicist and sound engineer who's been a musician since the age of 17.

He's worked in radio as a live broadcast and post-production technician for companies like Onda Cero or M-Cube. As well as working on numerous film projects as a boom operator and sound supervisor , with directors such as Polo Menárguez and Chema Sarmiento.

From 2005 to 2017, he was a member and worked as a professional musician in a number of post-punk, rock, and synth-pop bands, including El PardoAlgora or Béton Brut, serving as a bassist, guitarist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer.

He began his journey as a techno producer and DJ in 2018, initially under the alias of Gallo Hermético and later as Cloister. The former project leans more towards EBM, Italo, and Electro sounds, while the latter is decidedly rooted in Techno, with releases on labels such as Oráculo Records (Barcelona), Tongræber (Vienna), and NTTR (Madrid) and numerous sessions recorded for collectives like polymotion (Berlin), Microondas (Zaragoza), Azkaban Kollektiv or Malasuerteradio. He's also been part of the lineup for events such as AlterEgoHerzblutHole or Sync!.

In addition, he's been a professor in the Sound Department of the TAI School of Arts,since 2019, teaching courses in Electroacoustics, Sound Technology, Sound Design and New Compositional Models.

Lastly, he's co-creator, alongside Cadencia Dolorosa, of the program Mediúmnica for the online radio station Radio Relativa.
